WONDR NATION Partners with Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling to Present Inaugural Responsible Gaming Awards

Mashantucket, CT (June 13, 2024)

WONDR NATION®, the online gaming and entertainment company from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, in partnership with the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG) and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), introduced the inaugural Responsible Gaming Awards, a new addition to Fox61’s Student News Awards. This new category aims to raise awareness about the risks of youth gambling addiction.

Empowering Connecticut's middle and high school students, the FOX61 Student News program offers a unique avenue to delve into multimedia journalism, providing hands-on experience in capturing, editing, and publishing original content under the mentorship of seasoned industry professionals. In partnership with CCPG and DMHAS, the Gambling Awareness Youth Media Project was created to provide students with the opportunity to create public service announcements to educate peers on the risks associated with gambling.

“This new award category acknowledges the potential of youth in championing responsible gaming and enhancing player safety,” said Anika Howard, President & CEO of WONDR NATION. “Having the opportunity to support initiatives that align with our commitment to fostering safe gaming environments, especially for youth, reinforces our dedication to responsible gaming and strengthens our partnerships within the Connecticut community.”

WONDR NATION and Foxwoods Casino formed a joint panel of associates to review the student projects from the Gambling Awareness Showcase. Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc. was selected as this year’s winner and was awarded with a $5,000 check on behalf of WONDR NATION to support their future contributions to the industry.

In recognition of the rising generations’ role in championing responsible gaming, the Gambling Awareness Youth Media Project aims to tackle the growing concern of youth gambling addiction and promote a culture of awareness and prevention. The winning project was selected based on criteria that included creativity, effectiveness, and impact in raising awareness about responsible gaming.

WONDR NATION remains committed to fostering safe gaming environments and looks forward to its continued collaboration with CCPG and Fox61. Together with its like-minded partners, WONDR NATION strives to continue making positive impacts and empowering young users to make informed choices about gaming and gambling.
